At Gateway, we understand that being an active member of our community means giving back. Not just financially, but through employee volunteerism, fundraising, sponsorship and other ways. We’re very proud of our community efforts and the following is just a sample of some of the events we’re proud to support and be involved with:
HSBC Celebration of Light
Starlight Casino was pleased to be a presenting sponsor of the HSBC Celebration of Light in 2007 and 2008. Our financial commitment allowed the Celebration of Light to continue to shine as a significant community event which attracts spectators from all over the world. This fun, free event is enjoyed by both residents and tourists, and has become a tradition and highlight of Vancouver’s summer.
Burnaby Blues and Roots Festival
The Burnaby Blues & Roots festival is a community based event taking place in August each year. 2008 marked the 9th year that this festival has taken place at Deer Lake Park and is very well received. There is continuous music being played from 2:00pm – 10:00pm on two stages, the main stage being the Gateway Casinos stage and the smaller stage is the BCLC stage. The festival has become famous over the years – and not just to Burnaby residents. It’s an enormous cultural tourist destination continuing to gain momentum each summer.
Fraser Festival in New Westminster
FraserFest occurs annually over a weekend in July, and celebrates the Fraser River, BC’s mightiest river and most important inland waterway. This annual event takes place along the boardwalk of Westminster Quay lining the river, and brings together the public, community groups, cultural organizations, businesses, and a flotilla of working and historic vessels.
Langley Cruise In
Taking place right on the front lawn of Cascades, this decade-long community event gathers people from all over to ooh and ahh over hundreds of classic automobiles. Best of all, this event supports numerous local Langley charities.
Giro de Burnaby
The Giro de Burnaby is part of BC Superweek, a celebration of professional cycling in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. This fast paced event has thousands of people lining the race course to catch a glimpse of some of the fastest cyclists in the world – and Gateway is proud to support such an event.
Vernon Winter Carnival
Lake City Casinos is pleased to be the presenting sponsor of the Vernon Winter Carnival. This annual event is North America’s second largest winter festival and draws participants from all over the country to take part in the many events – from Snow Sculpture to Hot Air Balloon competitions.
Penticton Peach Fest
Lake City Casinos is a proud major sponsor of the Penticton Peach Festival – this event has been a south Okanagan valley tradition for over 60 years. The five day extravaganza takes place in August and features live entertainment on the Lake City Casinos Entertainment stage as well as many other events such as the Grand Parade, square dancing festival, a festival marketplace and more.
