June 12, 2018 – Campbell River, BC – Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited (“Gateway”) is pleased to announce the addition of their signature MATCH Eatery & Public House (“MATCH”) to its Campbell River and Courtenay locations and will open their doors this summer.
After months of renovations, Chances Campbell River and Chances Courtenay are about to fire up the broilers and turn on the draft taps with the latest additions to Gateway’s vibrant and budding portfolio of restaurants. MATCH Campbell River is set to open to the public on June 21, 2018. MATCH Courtenay is scheduled to open later this summer. MATCH operates in 8 other locations in Western Canada and will debut its first MATCH in Ontario in June.
Gateway’s most successful signature food and beverage brand, MATCH is a contemporary themed pub that offers a great sporting and entertainment experience, with the atmosphere and comfort of a neighbourhood pub. Already featured at several of Gateway’s entertainment facilities across British Columbia and Alberta, MATCH has become a favourite of those wanting a playful dining experience, family-friendly environment, a place to cheer on your favorite sports teams and enjoy live entertainment.
“We are extremely excited to welcome our regulars and newcomers alike to MATCH Eatery & Public House”, beams Kent Hockley, Gateway’s Regional Manager of their Vancouver Island properties, “MATCH is going to be a fantastic addition to our properties and I believe it will quickly become a favourite gathering spot in both communities.”
With warm woods, and punchy red accents, MATCH caters to guests with a casual, yet airy and electric setting. The room is a diverse combination of dining seating, banquettes for socializing, cozy booths, and a lively bar. Both MATCH venues will boast inviting patios that take advantage of world-class settings, spectacular views, and include outdoor fire tables; allowing patrons to take in the unique Island elements in comfort.
The menu is an eclectic combination of pub classics, seasonal offerings, kitschy (and indulgent) twists on familiar comfort foods. Highlights include a Chicken & Waffle Sandwich, Oink Oink Poutine, and the Big Dipper Beef Dip. To quench that summer thirst, MATCH will have 12 draft taps presenting all the local favorites, and feature signature cocktails like the West Coast Caesar and a Summery Champagne Sangria.
“We are bringing to the Campbell River and Courtenay an authentic and winning combination that is truly hard to find these days – a laidback place, with a lively personality, where you can feel at home with your friends, yet still have a delicious and affordable night out,” added Hockley.
Gateway has invested over $6.5 million and created 120 new jobs in the local communities through the addition of these MATCH locations. Both locations will boast patios with incomparable views and feature live music such as, the North Island’s own Monkey Wrench: a 3-piece cover band playing hits from the 70 to today.
