November 1, 2017 – Langley, BC – Habitat for Humanity Canada received a cheque for $5,000 from Cascades Casino as part of GatewayGIVES’ 25 Days of Giving in celebration of Gateway’s 25th anniversary in the business of entertainment.
GatewayGIVES is the corporate giving and community engagement program of Gateway Casinos. The 25 Days of Giving campaign will contribute $5,000 to a worthy local charity selected by employees, in each of the communities where Gateway operates. At the end of the October campaign, GatewayGIVES will have donated a total of $125,000 to the deserving, employee-selected, charities across Canada.
Gateway has dedicated the month of October to celebrate its silver anniversary with customers, communities and employees. As part of the festivities they launched the 25 Days of Giving campaign through GatewayGIVES and are letting their employees select the charity of their choice in the communities where they live and work. Habitat for Humanity Canada was selected in recognition of its ongoing efforts to bring communities together to help families build stability and independence through homeownership.
“Upper Fraser Valley Habitat for Humanity would like to thank Cascades Casino Langley for their most generous donation of $5000.00. This donation shows their commitment to help us build affordable housing for those families most in need. It is only with the generous support of companies such as Cascades Casino Langley that we are able to do the work we do. We believe that home is the foundation for our lives, and it should provide an atmosphere of content. Everyone deserves a safe, affordable place to call home. Habitat for Humanity-where we offer a hand up—not a hand out. From the bottom of our hearts, Thank you for helping us help families.” Said Doug Rempel, CEO; Habitat for Humanity, Upper Fraser Valley
Ray McNeil, General Manager of Cascades Casino said “the 25 Days of Giving was an exciting process for our staff. This organization provides a valuable service within our region. Every person deserves the security of a home to call their own. I am thrilled that this campaign will allow Habitat for Humanity to provide a ‘Hand-Up’ to those in need.”
Emily Dyck, Sales Manager at Cascades Casino Langley, who nominated the organization, said that she nominated Habitat for Humanity because she believes in giving families and children a hand up to allow for more opportunity. “Habitat for Humanity offers low-income families an opportunity for ownership that instills a sense of pride and responsibility that directly impacts their children and their futures. It’s amazing to hear about people whose paths in life have been redirected thanks to Habitat.” She went on to say that she plans to volunteer with the organization so that it can continue to support local families.
