January 22, 2019 – Langley, BC Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation (LMHF) received a cheque for $10,742.70 from Cascades Casino Resort given through GatewayGIVES, the corporate giving and community engagement program for Gateway Casinos & Entertainment which supports important community and charitable initiatives across Canada.

The significant donation, presented to LMHF by employees from Cascades, is the first of two following a weekly 50/50 draw which has been running in Match Eatery & Public House at Cascades since August of last year. The initiative has seen great support from the community with sell out events each Friday and Saturday evening.

Gateway’s Vice President of Operations, BC East, Ray MacNeil said that the LMHF was chosen by the employees of Cascades because they believe in the important work they do in enabling local health care improvements that provide better health outcomes to everyone in the community.

“We have been a proud supporter of the Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation for many years and are thrilled to make this significant donation to the Mental Health and Substance Use Treatment Zone in the new emergency department, opening in 2020,” he said. “The support from the community has been overwhelming, with many of our winners across the weeks generously choosing to donate their prize directly back to the hospital foundation, or donating funds beyond the ticket price.”

Cascades will be continuing the draws each Friday and Saturday evening in Match until May and hope to raise at least another $10,000 by then for this amazing cause.
Accepting the donation was Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation Board Chair Ellen Peterson who said that Cascades Casino has been a loyal supporter of the Foundation and a great corporate neighbour for the area.

“As leaders in building health care partnerships in Langley, we work with individuals and corporate and community supporters like Cascades Casino Resort to fund capital projects as well as the most urgent needs of the hospital such as the purchase of cutting-edge medical equipment, funding education programs to advance treatment and patient comforts,” she said.

“Donations like this generate a real impact on the hospital services through the purchase of new hospital equipment, clinical staff education programs and important patient comforts. We sincerely thank Cascades Casino and their customers for their support.”
The cheque presentation event took place on Tuesday January 22 in Match at Cascades with the 50/50 winners invited as well as special guests from the LMHF, who were treated to signature items from the Match menu which offers clean, classic food choices with a modern twist.
