October 24, 2017 – Kamloops, BC – KidSport received a cheque for $5,000 from Cascades Casino Kamloops as part of GatewayGIVES’ 25 Days of Giving in celebration of Gateway’s 25th anniversary in the business of entertainment.
GatewayGIVES is the corporate giving and community engagement program of Gateway Casinos. The 25 Days of Giving campaign will contribute $5,000 to a worthy local charity selected by employees, in each of the communities where Gateway operates. At the end of the October campaign, GatewayGIVES will have donated a total of $125,000 to the deserving, employee-selected, charities across Canada.
Gateway has dedicated the month of October to celebrate its silver anniversary with customers, communities and employees. As part of the festivities they launched the 25 Days of Giving campaign through GatewayGIVES and are letting their employees select the charity of their choice in the communities where they live and work. KidSport was selected in recognition of their continued efforts to provide financial assistance to youth, aged 18 and under, for the costs associated with participation in a season of sports; costs such as, registration fees and equipment.
“Robert Case, General Manager of Cascades Casino Kamloops said it was an exciting process that engaged and motivated staff. “Being able to offer an opportunity for our employees to nominate a charitable organization that is important to them and serves our community, was a remarkable experience. All children should be able to play sports. KidSport provides this within our community and we are thrilled to be able to help them support more kids in Kamloops.”
“Getting an email informing us that we were chosen as the charity of choice for Cascades Casino Kamloops in celebration of their 25 year anniversary was an amazing surprise to our local Chapter of KidSport! We live in such a great community and I continue to be amazed and so grateful to have such wonderful corporate support. This donation will go a long way directly assisting more local kids access sport. Thank you for helping us #SoAllKidsCanPlay,” said Scott Andruschak, Chairperson for KidSport.
Leona Sperling, Slot Attendant at Cascades Casino, who nominated the organization, said that she nominated KidSport because she had personally been a recipient of assistance from the organization, “KidSport were gracious enough to pay the full registration. Without them I would not have been able to give my two boys a chance at playing hockey”, she went on to say that she would love to give back to the organization so that it can continue to support local families in the same way that they supported hers.
