Over $60,000 Raised in Support of the Canadian Cancer Society

Burnaby, BC – February 13, 2020 – Gateway Casinos & Entertainment (“Gateway”) is proud to support the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS). Through GatewayGIVES, the company’s charitable and community engagement program, they have donated more than $60,000. The company partnered with its food and beverage outlets across the country to raise the funds. Participating sites donated 50 cents from every guest check to this incredible cause, amounting in a grand total of $60,948 involving close to 100,000 diners. Funds will support CCS in their mission of creating a world where no one fears breast cancer.

“Gateway is a long-time supporter of the Canadian Cancer Society,” said Tanya Gabara, Director of Public Relations for Gateway. “As a company, we could not be more proud to give back and show our support – to contribute to their mission of helping people live longer and enhancing the quality of life for people with breast cancer.”

Gateway raised its funds this past October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month – a reminder to all that life is bigger than breast cancer. Significant progress is being made and because of investments in research, almost 90% of women will survive at least five years or more after a breast cancer diagnosis.

“It’s because of funds raised through corporate partners like Gateway, we know more than ever before about how to prevent, diagnose, treat and live with and beyond breast cancer,” said Irina Novak-Calki, Account Executive of Corporate Partnerships for the Canadian Cancer Society. “Thanks to this contribution we are able to continue funding the best breast cancer research, provide the largest cancer support system in the country and shape health policies that will save lives and make living with cancer easier.”

The GatewayGIVES program aims to build stronger, healthier and more vibrant communities by offering not just their resources, but also their know-how, and properties to support local charities and initiatives in the communities where they operate.
