Rigorous health & safety procedures being implemented

Large gaming floor to promote safe distancing

Wide variety of slots and table games available

June 4, 2021 – Gateway Casinos & Entertainment (Gateway) is pleased to announce that in accordance with Alberta’s ‘Open for Summer Plan’ it will be re-opening Starlight Casino at the West Edmonton Mall on Thursday, June 10th . With the health and safety of customers and employees as the top priority, the property will adhere to all public health guidelines outlined by Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH), align with guidance from AGLC and implement stringent health and safety measures that have been deployed across the Gateway Casinos network.

On re-opening, there will be a number of amenities for customers to enjoy on the spacious gaming floor including a wide variety of slot machines, the Replay Arena and table games (not including Poker).  Starlight will also be opening its popular authentic Asian noodle restaurant, Chow Lucky Noodle Bar and the Nova Bar, located on the gaming floor. Both will offer a full selection of food and beverage options.

“We are excited to be included in the province’s plan and to be re-opening one of our signature properties in Edmonton, Starlight Casino at the West Edmonton Mall, and welcome back some of our team members and customers.  As always, the health and safety of our employees and customers are paramount,” said Tony Santo, CEO at Gateway Casinos. “We look forward to a safe and steady restart and the return to full operations as it is safe and viable to do so.”

Maintaining a clean environment is a daily priority including cleaning all hard surfaces and high touch surfaces, such as door handles and tables. Under the current environment, Gateway is being hyper-vigilant with enhanced cleaning and sanitizing protocols throughout our properties to prevent the spread of transmittable illnesses, including COVID-19.

“We operate in one of the most highly regulated business environments in the province with more rigorous oversight and controls than any other business in the hospitality sector,” said Santo.  “At Gateway, we have developed extensive health and safety plans that have been independently reviewed by a health and safety subject matter expert and have been submitted to Alberta Health Services (AHS) and the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC).”

Starlight Casino Edmonton completed a multi-million dollar transformation and expansion in 2018 to become one of Edmonton’s premier gaming entertainment destinations. The Starlight Casino brand provides guests with the glitz, glamour and vintage feel of retro Vegas in a high energy atmosphere, centered on dining, gaming and entertainment experiences.  While things may look and feel a little different around the property, the team at Starlight remains committed to making each guests’ visit enjoyable.  You can enter directly into the Starlight Casino Edmonton through the main entrance #9, located on 90 Ave. between 170 and 178 Street or through the mall entrance on the second level, north of the Mayfield Toyota Ice Rink.
