Protect Yourself from Online Scams Targeting Local Casinos

Gateway Casinos & Entertainment is warning the public about a concerning trend of scams circulating online, falsely impersonating casinos and deceiving individuals into providing their sensitive information including any financial details on illegitimate websites.

These scams are cunningly executed through fraudulent posts and advertisements on popular social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram and also by setting up fake Applications that can be downloaded on Google Play and Apple Store. Exploiting the logos, names, and imagery of reputable casino brands, these deceptive posts lure players with promises of exclusive bonuses and promotions if they register with their counterfeit websites or mobile applications. It’s critical to note that none of these sites are associated with legitimate casinos in British Columbia, Alberta or Ontario (or with Gateway, British Columbia Lottery Corporation, Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis or Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation).

The only legitimate way to game online with Gateway Casinos in Ontario is through our partnership with Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation at

While efforts are underway to remove these fraudulent posts, we urge our customers and the general public to remain vigilant against these predatory scams. If a website or app requests personal or financial information, exercise caution. Beware of red flags such as demands for fees or taxes on prizes – remember, there are no fees or taxes on prizes won in Canada.

To shield yourself from these scams, meticulously examine the URL and domain of any website to ensure its legitimacy. If you encounter any suspicious account, post, or advertisement claiming affiliation with any of our trademark casino outlets, please write to us at
