October 24, 2017 – Sault Ste. Marie, ON – Tracey’s Dream received a cheque today for $5,000 from Gateway Casinos Sault Ste. Marie as part of GatewayGIVES’ 25 Days of Giving in celebration of Gateway’s 25th anniversary in the business of entertainment.

GatewayGIVES is the corporate giving and community engagement program of Gateway Casinos. The 25 Days of Giving campaign will contribute $5,000 to a worthy local charity selected by employees, in each of the communities where Gateway operates. At the end of the October campaign, GatewayGIVES will have donated a total of $125,000 to the deserving, employee-selected, charities across Canada.

Gateway has dedicated the month of October to celebrate its silver anniversary with customers, communities and employees. As part of the festivities they launched the 25 Days of Giving campaign through GatewayGIVES and are letting their employees select the charity of their choice in the communities where they live and work. Tracey’s Dream was founded by local Sault Ste. Marie resident Tracey Dinette after she discovered she had breast cancer. Sadly, Tracey lost her battle with the disease on June 21, 2016 at the age of 52, but her dream of assisting others on their journey through the course of cancer treatment lives on through the charity she founded. Tracey’s Dream provides cancer patients with a token to cover the cost of parking when they visit the hospital for treatment. Because cancer treatment requires multiple visits to hospital, sometimes several times in a day over many weeks and months, this can prove very expensive.

“Tracy’s Dream is very appreciative to accept this donation from Gateway Casinos Sault Ste. Marie. The employees and patrons of Casino Sault Ste. Marie have been continuous devoted supporters since day one when Tracy Dinelle first brought her dream forward in Jan. 2015. We are thankful and truly appreciative that Gateway in their first six months in our community has stepped forward and is showing us that they are aware of the various charitable contributions our city relies on to provide services outside of those funded by agencies. Tracy’s Dream is grateful to have been chosen to be a recipient of Gateways goodwill,” said Tracey’s husband, Dennis Dinelle.

“I am really pleased on behalf of Gateway Casinos Sault Ste. Marie to be able to continue to support Tracey’s Dream,” said Gateway Casinos General Manager, Jim Love. “When I spoke with our staff and told them about the 25 Days of Giving, Tracey’s Dream was the natural choice. We supported the launch of the Tracey’s Dream Calendar 2017 here about a year ago last November and now we are back again to remind everyone of Tracey’s kind heart and good will. My staff and I are proud to honour her memory with this cheque.”

“Dennis Dinelle was my manager at the casino and my wife got diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 32 so we kind of just fell together and came together that way. It is a great charity, it helps out a lot of people, the parking is very expensive and very time consuming and you know it’s just, they are there already and a lot to take in and just helps them out so much it really means a lot for everybody that’s involved, ” said Brad Gerhart, D/R Slot Supervisor at Gateway Casinos Sault Ste. Marie.

Starting in 1992 with two casino operations in the Vancouver area, Gateway has grown exponentially over the years through new casino developments, redevelopments of existing properties and strategic acquisitions.
